On June 28-29, 2024, Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic had the honor of hosting Milosz Motyka, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Climate and Environment. This study visit was co-organized by the Industrial Development Agency and Baltic Towers. The meeting provided an opportunity to showcase the capabilities of the Group’s facilities and to discuss the challenges facing Poland’s offshore wind energy industry.

The event began with presentations from Jakub Dulski, Vice President of the Industrial Development Agency, Adam Kowalski and Magdalena Czuba-Wąsowska, board members of Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic, and Jakub Wnuczynski, President of Baltic Towers. These presentations were followed by a discussion on the challenges facing the Polish offshore wind energy sector.

During the visit, the delegation toured Ostrow Island, historically associated with the Gdańsk Shipyard. Guests observed the progress on the construction of the modern Baltic Towers offshore wind tower factory, as well as the K1 hall and assembly yard owned by Baltic Operator. Additionally, they visited the grounds of Energomontaż-Północ Gdynia and the port and shipyard infrastructure in Gdansk and Gdynia.

The purpose of the meeting was not only to showcase the potential of Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic’s facilities and infrastructure, and those of its sister company Baltic Towers, but also to initiate discussions on the involvement of Polish companies in the country’s offshore energy transformation. The visit organizers highlighted that Baltic Towers, controlled by the Industrial Development Agency, along with the companies comprising GPB, possess unique resources, skills, experience, and competencies essential for the efficient development of this sector. Furthermore, GPB is actively enhancing its capabilities in areas such as hydrogen technology, nuclear power, and shipbuilding. However, the hosts emphasized that further investments are needed to continue growth and to offer new specialized products and services, such as fully equipped offshore transformer stations.

The government representatives underscored the crucial role of Polish companies in the construction of offshore wind farms and expressed a strong desire to secure their participation in ongoing and upcoming projects. They stressed the importance of a renewed collaboration with the industry, which is vital for the Polish economy and local communities.
