On January 19th this year in Warsaw, Industrial Development Agency and the Spanish company GRI Renewable Industries, S.L. signed an agreement on the establishment of a wind tower factory for offshore wind energy in Gdansk, on Ostrow Island. The signing ceremony of the joint-venture agreement was attended by representatives of Grupa Przemysłowa Baltic: President Henryk Ogryczak, Mr. Marcin Miedzinski, Mr. Jakub Wnuczynski.
The companies of our group already have many years of experience in the renewable energy market and offshore sector focusing on activities concentrated in three segments: wind towers, onshore/offshore steel structures, vessels.
GPB, together with its subsidiaries, has produced more than 4,000 sections of onshore wind towers, a number of substations and components dedicated to OWF over the past 10 years.
The new investment, located on our site with access to the waterfront, will include an offshore tower production hall for the largest planned offshore wind turbines of more than 14 MW, and the state-of-the-art production facility, designed and built to Industry 4.0 standards, will have a production capacity capable of manufacturing more than 120 towers per year. The new plant will meet the highest technical and quality standards set by key customers in the OWF market. The value of the estimated investment is more than €150 million, and production is scheduled to start in 2025. In total, the new factory will create 400 to 450 new jobs on Ostrow Island.
The new factory will make it possible to meet the growing demand for wind towers, as well as clearly increase the participation of Polish companies in the supply chain for the construction of offshore wind farms (OWF) in the Baltic Sea.
We would like to thank the entire team for the effort and effort put into planning and preparing this investment!
